The rainbow nation of South Africa consists of various people who have different tastes when coming to music.  Mzansi has a lot of vibrant music genres that keep people dancing and constantly jamming.

Here are some of the top music genres in South Africa:

Amapiano 

It is fair to say the music genre popularly known as Amapiano has certainly taken Mzansi by storm in recent years. Today it is known as the top Music genre in the country. It has also managed to get people dancing even beyond South African borders and the genre consists of big names such as DJ Maphorisa, Papi Cooper and Kabza the small among others. Amapiano is almost on everyone's playlist in Mzansi and it seems that it will continue to be so for a long time.

House 

Some might say that the music genre of house is equally dominant and prominent as Amapiano. House music in South Africa consists of some of the most talented DJs,some of them are now globally recognized such as Master KG and DJ Black Coffe. DJ Euphonik ,DJ Zinhle and Prince Kaybee are some of the most recognized and respected names in the genre.

Gospel 

For numerous decades Gospel artists in Mzansi have been spreading the good word of God through their heartwarming voices. Through the years South Africa has been blessed by various Gospel voices of the legendary Rebecca Malope, Winnie Mashaba and the late Deborah Fraser. Today the sensational group known as Spirit of Praise is proudly representing Mzansi in the Gospel Scenery.

Gqom 

This exclusively South African music genre is popular because of its explositivity and its ability to inject listeners with energy of taking over the dance floor. Gqom consists of well known musicians and hit makers such as DJ Exit , Sho Madjozi , Distruction Boyz , DJ Tira and many more high caliber artists.

Hip Hop 

A lot of people in South Africa have stated that the Hip Hop as a music genre is slowly dying in Mzansi. But home grown artists such as Nasty C have proven otherwise. Nasty C and Casper Nyovest are now known in various countries around the globe including the USA. Shane Eagle and A-Reece still continue to dominate and revolutionize the Hip Hop industry with their dope rhymes , all inspiring and powerful punchlines.

South Africa is a country that embraces diversity, its music and talented musicians fully portray this claim.
